Tiny Tots Ballet offers aspiring young ballerinas an introduction to creative movement and ballet in a fun and creative way. This class enhances emotional development, boosts cognitive development, improves their motor-skills, confidence, and expands the appreciation of art and culture, to name a few.
Pre-ballet 1 is a more formal introduction to very basic ballet steps and terminology. In this class, children will learn and practice spatial awareness, rhythm, balance, and coordination.
Pre-ballet 2 builds on the previous level with more precision and more sophisticated strength, flexibility and coordination exercises. This class has a stronger focus on basic ballet technique, stretching and strengthening exercises. Students will also become familiar with basic French Ballet terminology used in the Vaganova syllabus.
The Vaganova syllabus is not just a ballet method but this program does more than just “teach ballet”. This is globally known as one of the, if not the best method to use when training dancers to become professionals in the dance and ballet world.
Level 1 foundation is the first year of the RBASA’s pre-professional training program following the Vaganova syllabus. Students continue to develop their knowledge in the basics of ballet and build their knowledge further. In level 1, girls start to practice on point shoes at the discretion of their teacher. All levels 2 and 3 build on level 1 and work at the barre and center and jumps gets more complex and advanced.
*All foundation levels will require an assessment at the end of the course to evaluate if the students are ready for the next phase. All other levels (the next phase after foundation) will require an exam at the end of the year. If a student shows talent and commitment, he/she, with the evaluation of the teacher, might be able to directly proceed to one of the “levels” instead of doing the foundation level of said level.
In all levels 4-6, the technique becomes more advanced and so also preparing for the professional levels 7 & 8. In level 4, character dance is also introduced and becomes part of the program.
Levels 7 & 8 are the professional and graduating levels of the Vaganova syllabus. The syllabus is complex and the final ‘round off’ they need to proceed as professional dancers. With this arsenal of exquisite ballet training the student will be able to enter any company of his/her desire or go study further in the art of dance abroad.
Pre-levels is a program for students that are old enough for the pre-professional levels but not quite physically ready. This is our recreational classes and you have the option of one lesson or two lessons a week. If the student however would like to proceed to the pre-professional levels, a minimum of two lessons a week will be required.
If the student would like extra individual lessons or if the student would prefer only individual lessons, there are two options. 30 min or 60 min lessons. However, to enter exams, the student will need to be part of a group to be eligible to enter.
